One thing to remember is that many of the cooler projects are container inspired, but are not build from standard shipping containers or have a majority non-container parts. The Pieter Peelings and Silvia Mertens house for example seems to use no ISO shipping containers at all. The very cool Puma store uses purpose build containers with very unique structural features (e.g. corner casings in the middle of the roof). Still cool stuff.

See http://blogs.23.nu/c0re/2010/02/builders-guide-to-shipping-containers/ for some of the issues when ONLY building with containers.

Jody..Please tell me, are you working with a designer? They are so costly here in the N.E. USA. I'd like to build a home out of these but I want it to be worth it..less than what conventional building costs. Where are you learning to do this project? I am handy and want to sub it out myself.

Thanks..please let me know.
