The Banksy work on a laneway wall in Melbourne, Australia was recently destroyed by someone throwing silver paint on it - such a shame. The Melbourne City Council had chosen to preserve it by building a glass shield over it to protect it from vandals but someone just poured the paint over the top. Perhaps if it hadn't been given the publicity or preserved in this way it might have survived.
