The Stokes Bay Range light is a functioning light, still maintained by the Canadian Coast Guard. The second tower was built to replace the still standing lighthouse which hasn't had a keeper for years like most lighthouses in Ontario.

The Nancy Island lighthouse shown is actually a replica that was built 1967 and is part of museum.

Nice pictures, but please do your research!

The Ferryland Head Lighthouse used to be falling apart, yet, as the picture suggests, it has been renovated in the meantime and is now run by a small business selling lunch to picnickers.

Unfortunately this is another demonstration of the poor research that was done while creating this compilation of abandoned lighthouses.
Nevertheless, I found this page very inspirational!

Although I love this site, I have to agree that this article has particularly poor research. It's the "strait" of Ontranto, not the "straight," and yeah, it's "Wales," not "whales." Plus, it would be nice to know WHERE in Canada the Canadian ones are -- it's a big country with three coasts (although I don't know if the Arctic coast has lighthouses).

It would also be really good to know whether any of these abandoned lighthouses are for sale to private citizens to be restored and lived in. Enquiring minds want to know, so make with the research next time!
