I knew that in 2009,the construction of Foster’s Crystal Island has been postponed indefinitely due to the global economic crisis. It shouldn’t be mentioned in the article? Or the project started again?

This is a great post, hats off to the author! I was pretty astounded when I saw that silver sphere was 44 storeys high but then I came across the Ziggurats and X-Seed… crazy! My home town of Sheffield is pretty much the exact opposite, no planning whatsoever, just a collection of small country villages swalloed up by the industrial revolution. Can’t believe these British architects are designing such amazing stuff abroad. They should do that at home too!
