Earth's toxic culture can not be allowed to escape this planet to pollute anywhere else in the Universe. For the inmates of planet Earth , space is not the final frontier, to be conquered. It is the human mind that has to be put in working order. What is the plan for Mars? Are we creating first class Martians, or second class Earthlings? Terms such as Terraforming are, well, Terracentric, and that is bad. With out a clean cultural break from Earth, the idea of Mars settlement is doomed to fail. The people will be the failure. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) can get them to Mars. The ignorant superstitions (philosophies, religions, political-economics, etc.) that most Earthlings live by, will always be destructive and on Mars, fatal. On Earth most of the human population, that has ever existed, have chosen not to participate, in the rigorous precision of STEM, choosing instead, to go with their totally unreliable feelings and emotions. That has been the cause of most of the man made problems, all though human history. What possible chance does any plan for Mars have?

The transfer of civilization to mars is a nessessity to the preservation of the human experience. The application of terraforming mars would not be a viable choice giving the forcasted growth rate of the earths population. Colonizing Mars is the most practical use of the planet. Terrafomring Mars is a long term wish..

I still think we can clean up the earth as well. Our planet can be so beautiful. Cities as well as nature. I hope I will be still alive to see that we give more land back to nature world wide...and science up our cities combining new materials, concreet and lots of green...;-)

Greez from The Netherlands,

JoeBob

PS: I rather first practise on colonizing the moon before trying Mars. Or even a large spacestation that can be totally selfsufficient.

PS(2): Perhaps we can use the knowledge of building space-houses also for back on earth to give everybody a roof above their heads...

What's to be said of a civilization which tested the composition of the moon by firing its garbage back to the surface after lift-off for home & measured the impact for its resonance? And by the way, what ever happened to our moon missions, and the colonization which was supposed to follow those? I read a fascinating book (out of print now of course)by two ex-cosmonauts whose opinion was that we'd been told by those who use it as a relay station to stay the hell off as we'd already trashed one planet... Lot's more in it ~ find it if you can ~ it's titled 'Secrets of Our Spaceship Moon'
