<p>Wouldn&#8217;t you rather work in a lush jungle, a surrealist space that transforms before your eyes, a space that looks like the set of a sci-fi movie or an office with a speakeasy hidden under the stairs? These 13 ultra-creative modern office designs are tailored to the identities, preferences and missions of the individual companies, prioritizing employee comfort and a sense of fun.</p>
<h4>Agoratic in Paris by Stéphane Malka</h4>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114416" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Stephane-Malka-Agoratic-Paris.gif" alt="" width="818" height="546" /></p>

<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114414" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Stephane-Malka-Agoratic-3.jpg" alt="" width="818" height="546" /></p>
<p>This strikingly graphic transforming space in Paris by <a href="https://www.stephanemalka.com/?page_id=2858&amp;lang=en">Stéphane Malka</a> uses a flexible partition system to open or delineate offices for computer education company Agoratic. The new space includes a variety of versatile zones that can be used as meeting rooms, digital training spaces, administrative offices and more. The effect is a little disorienting, but not in a bad way &#8211; it’s almost like the building houses untold secrets and hidden spaces waiting to be found.</p>
<h4>Cloud DCS Office in China by Arboit Limited</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114405" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/CloudDCS-Office-1.jpg" alt="" width="818" height="545" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114403" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/CloudDCS-Office-3.jpg" alt="" width="818" height="546" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114404" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/CloudDCS-Office-2.jpg" alt="" width="818" height="989" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114402" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/CloudDCS-Office-4.jpg" alt="" width="818" height="534" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114401" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Cloud-DCS-Office-5.jpg" alt="" width="818" height="545" /></p>
<p>The Cloud DCS office in China by <a href="http://www.arboit.com.hk/">Arboit</a> is a visual interpretation of the internet as a physical space, and it truly feels out of this world. The Hong Kong-based architects were commissioned to renovate the interiors of an existing 20,000 square meter industrial building, adding offices, spaces for thousands of servers, client meeting spaces and multimedia show rooms. The result looks straight off the set of a sci-fi movie, with entire rooms upholstered in white leather, flooring printed with clouds, spaceship-like work pods and a gallery with a mirrored floor set within a spiral.</p>
<h4>SRAM Headquarters in Chicago by Perkins + Will</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114395" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/SRAM-Office-Perkins-and-Will-2.jpg" alt="" width="1400" height="788" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114394" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/SRAM-Office-Perkins-and-Will-3.jpg" alt="" width="750" height="503" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114372" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Adobe-Headquarters-4.jpg" alt="" width="854" height="1000" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114393" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/SRAM-Office-Perkins-and-Will-4.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="427" /></p>
<p>SRAM, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of bicycle components, commissioned global firm<a href="https://perkinswill.com/"> Perkins + Will</a> to design a dynamic office environment befitting of their status. The result, set within a former cold storage warehouse in Chicago, includes a meandering 1/8-mile bicycle test track. The bike-centric space also features an outdoor terrace that wraps around the office, a cafe where workers can choose to work all day, and a variety of other open or private areas.</p>
<p>“We believe in the power of bicycles to transform lives, and, in this new space, our culture celebrates that,” says David Zimberoff, Vice President of Marketing at SRAM. “People are really stoked. How could you not walk a prospect or a new employee through here and not have them want to work here?”</p>
<h4>Airmas Asri Offices in Jakarta</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-114424" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Screen-Shot-2018-06-05-at-11.53.45-AM.png" alt="" width="890" height="586" /></p>

<p>Have you ever daydreamed about working within a lush jungle? In Jakarta, the firm <a href="http://www.airmasasri.com/">Airmas Asri Architects </a>gave themselves a gorgeous home base in the middle of the bustling city, with greenery climbing the airy facade and filling a central courtyard. Skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows that open out onto the vegetation enhance the atmosphere.</p>

<p>The owners of these feline-focused houses understand that humans don&#8217;t own cats &#8211; it&#8217;s the other way around. They commissioned interior designers and architects to build cat walkways, window nooks, climbing shelves and chic glass lounges right into the design of their homes, whether to boldly put their cats front-and-center or subtly take advantage of unused vertical space. These streamlined modern results prove you can craft a home that meets your pets&#8217; needs without looking like you live in an animal shelter.</p>
<h4>Built-In Cat Bedroom by INDOT</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112766" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/IMDOT-cat-lounge-644x495.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="495" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112765" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/IMDOT-cat-lounge-2-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112764" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/cat-lounge-4-644x498.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="498" /></p>
<p>Taiwan-based studio <a href="http://indot.pixnet.net/album/set/18243630">INDOT</a> gave a pair of cats a bedroom of their own with a modern glass enclosure full of wooden perches. The ‘floating’ box hangs within a recessed wall of the living room, giving the family a view of their pets. Wooden slats on two sides offer ventilation.</p>
<h4>Built-In Bookcase for Cats by BFDO Architects</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112772" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/BFDO-cat-house-2-644x802.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="802" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112771" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/BFDO-cat-house-3-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112770" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/BFDO-cat-house-4-644x455.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="455" /></p>
<p><a href="http://barkerfreeman.com/portfolio/house-for-booklovers-and-cats/">Barker Freeman Architects (BFDO)</a> call this project “House for Booklovers and Cats,” and it’s easy to see why. “The clients, an artist/poet/professor and a poetry &amp; literature library administrator, asked us to convert this Brooklyn rowhouse into a series of lively, light-filled spaces,” they say. “They also wanted the house to provide accommodations for their two shy but inquisitive cats &#8211; including ways for the cats to slip away from unexpected guests. The key feature of the reconfigured house is an airy parlor floor living space. The 20-by-50 foot room is bordered by bookshelves configured around cat circulation routes. Shelves project to create steps for the cats to climb up to a continuous open ledge where they can observe activities below.”</p>
<h4>Loft H by ST Studio</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112763" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Loft-H-644x430.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="430" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112762" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Loft-H-2-644x401.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="401" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112761" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Loft-H-3-644x342.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="342" /></p>
<p>The owner of this Taipei apartment included his two cats in the design scheme from the very beginning, asking <a href="https://www.stdesignstudio.com/lofth.html">ST Studio</a> to keep their needs in mind, too. As a result, the design team transformed the two-bedroom apartment into an open-plan studio so the cats can freely roam, with plenty of natural light, plants and staggered shelving for them to play on. Note the subtle cat walkway that runs over the living room windows.</p>
<h4>Inside Out by Takeshi Hosaka Architects</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112743" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/inside-out-house-1-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112742" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/inside-out-house-2-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112741" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/inside-out-house-3-644x966.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="966" /></p>
<p>The entire premise of ‘Inside Out’ by <a href="http://www.hosakatakeshi.com/">Takeshi Hosaka Architects </a>is that designing our homes around cats actually improves the quality of our own lives, too. What do indoor house cats want, after all? Lots of sunshine to lounge in, the feeling of being outside while also being safe, and plenty of nooks to investigate. Japanese studio Takeshi Hosaka enclosed the private core of the home within an outer envelope to create liminal spaces with access to fresh air and even rain. They wanted the experience of being in the house to feel like being outside.</p>

<p>Yet another ‘catwalk’ is incorporated right into the design of a home with Tokyo-based studio <a href="http://do2.jp/">Do Do’s ‘House-Is’ </a>project, a renovation for a graphic designer and his wife that adds built-in elements and workspace into a small house clad in black corrugated metal. The catwalk runs along the entirety of the first floor.</p>

<p>Tall, narrow volumes and awkward stepped sites are no problem when you arrange your interior spaces in a continuous flow of open platforms without walls. These unusual split-level home designs feel bright, airy and spacious thanks to imaginative floor plans that make the most of the available space.</p>
<h4>Seven Stories on Two Floors by Tato Architects</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112036" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tato-architects-1-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112035" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tato-architects-2-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112034" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tato-architects-4-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112033" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tato-architects-5-644x966.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="966" /></p>
<p>In the amount of space that would normally fit two stories,<a href="http://tat-o.com/"> Tato Architects </a>have managed to fit seven through the clever usage of staggered platforms within the envelope of a Japanese home. Radically different from the average residence, the house was designed to meet the client’s request of a space where ‘the members of the family can feel close to each other regardless of where they are in the house.’ There are no interior walls, and covered platforms replace conventional spaces like closets.</p>
<h4>Tsubomi House by FLAT HOUSE</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112032" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tsubomi-house-1-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112030" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tsubomi-house-3-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112029" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tsubomi-house-4-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112028" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/tsubomi-house-5-644x429.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="429" /></p>
<p>The footprint of this home in Tokyo, including the biscuit shop on the ground floor, is a mere 279 square feet. How do you make such a small space work for a family? Architects <a href="http://www.flathouse.net/">FLAT HOUSE</a> gave this structure a jagged roof and arranged the interior to include various half-levels and platforms made of larch plywood cut into parallelograms. “Sometimes, the wife stands talking with a customer in the biscuit shop on the first level, then drinks a cup of tea at the dining space on the 1.5 level, then moves up to the second level and watch TV, all in a very small time frame. We hope the house resembles a closed flower bud squeezed into a metropolis.”</p>
<h4>Minamisensoku House by Kobayashi 401</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112027" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kobayashi-401-house-644x450.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="450" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112026" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kobayashi-401-2-644x438.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="438" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112025" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/kobayashi-401-3-644x448.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="448" /></p>
<p>This long, narrow Tokyo home has a footprint measuring 421 square feet, necessitating some creative solutions inside. <a href="http://kobayashi401.com/">Kobayashi 401</a> architects gave it a split level design where each simple white-painted level looks onto the other, making the space feel larger than it really is. These platforms create separated ‘rooms’ that remain open to each other and the main space. Imagine how cramped it might feel with standard enclosed rooms instead.</p>
<h4>Vertical House in Tokyo by Muji</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112016" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/muji-vertical-house-644x368.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="368" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112015" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/muji-vertical-house-2-644x345.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="345" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112014" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/muji-vertical-house-3-644x345.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="345" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112013" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/muji-vertical-house-4-644x720.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="720" /></p>
<p>Nothing is obstructed by walls or doors in this narrow home in Tokyo designed by <a href="http://www.muji.com/">Muji.</a> Split levels separated by staircases sit side-by-side in the space, paired according to function: the living room and kitchen are adjacent to each other, as are the bedrooms, all benefitting from the daylight that streams in through the windows in the envelope.</p>
<h4>Haus am Eisberg by Bräuning Architekt</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112039" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Screen-Shot-2018-03-12-at-9.26.50-AM-644x438.png" alt="" width="644" height="438" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112038" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Screen-Shot-2018-03-12-at-9.27.00-AM-644x440.png" alt="" width="644" height="440" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-112037" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Screen-Shot-2018-03-12-at-9.27.12-AM-644x434.png" alt="" width="644" height="434" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-112008" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/a-house-with-one-room-1.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="" /></p>
<p>This small concrete volume by <a href="http://www.braeuning-hoehne.de/b18-haus-am-eisberg">Bräuning Architekt</a> sits on a hillside in Germany, mastering the ‘balancing act’ of making efficient use of space while maximizing privacy. Some of the platforms within the split-level space may be quite small, but they’re highly functional nonetheless, all enjoying views from the house’s geometric floor-to-ceiling windows.</p>

<p>If your abiding love for the Star Wars franchise extends to collecting figurines but not to custom-building your own themed rooms quite yet, these projects might just kick you into that higher echelon of fandom. From parents who have built Millennium Falcon cockpit pods as beds for their kids to entire family homes filled with references to the series, these Star Wars-themed rooms and interiors definitely take it to another level.</p>
<h4>Millennium Falcon Kid’s Bed</h4>

<p>When<a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/800bt8/millennium_falcon_bed/"> Redditor Dericrw</a>’s son refused to sleep in his own bed, insisting on creeping into mom and dad’s room night after night, he decided to tempt him with something too cool to pass up: a custom-made Star Wars bedroom featuring an elevated sleeping pod modeled on the Millennium Falcon. The pod is ten feet long, four feet tall and five feet wide, tricked out with color-changing lights, a fan and a bedside bookshelf. A vinyl mural fixed to the rear wall looks out into space, while the opposite wall features a custom grille to complete the effect.</p>

<p>A family in Taipei, Taiwan gets a modern residence interspersed with Star Wars-inspired elements in this fun project by <a href="http://www.white-interior.com/">White Interior Design</a>. The kid’s room is based on the Millennium Falcon driver cabin.</p>

<p>Designer Edward McGowan collaborated with his brother Peter, an architect and interior designer, to custom-build a Millennium Falcon bed for his son. <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/1rbg89/my_nephews_star_wars_themed_room_in_the_making/">Peter explains on Reddit</a> that the renovation makes use of found items and donated time for a final cost of only $250.</p>
<h4>4 Awesome Star Wars Home Theaters</h4>

<p>For this ‘man cave’ in Honolulu, <a href="http://modernhomesystems.com/project/out-of-this-world/">Modern Home Systems</a> was asked to fulfill the client’s dream of having a designated theater in his home with a design straight out of Star Wars. They definitely delivered, complete with a life size R2D2.</p>

<p>The listing doesn’t appear to be active anymore, but <a href="https://www.thetopvillas.com/blog/florida/orlando/orlando-rentals-top-5-theater-rooms/">this home theater</a> is part of a vacation rental in Kissimmee, Florida capable of hosting 24 overnight guests. Other themed rooms in the house include Toy Story and Despicable Me bedrooms.</p>

<p>Two married computer programmers commissioned <a href="https://www.pickellbuilders.com/">Orren Pickell Designers &amp; Builders</a> to create this ‘Star Destroyer’ theater for their home in Libertyville, Illinois.</p>

<p>Patrick and Stephanie of Nixa, Missouri worked with Shawn Byrne of Quest Acoustical Interiors to incorporate a <a href="https://www.cnet.com/pictures/show-us-yours-star-wars-theater/">Star Wars-themed home theater</a> into their new home. Most of it is made of MDF and frosted plexiglass.</p>

<p>You never know how someone else&#8217;s creative custom solution for their tiny space could influence your own projects, or just help you organize your home a little more efficiently. Get lots of space-saving inspiration from this collection of well-executed lofts, transforming built-ins, custom shelving, storage platforms, swiss army kitchen islands and more.</p>
<h4>Combo Office, Entertainment Center &amp; Guest Bed for a London Micro Apartment</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111129" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/desk-and-entertainment-center-combo-644x460.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="460" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111128" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/desk-entertainment-center-bed-combo-644x964.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="964" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111127" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/combo-entertainment-unit-desk-bed-storage-644x964.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="964" /></p>
<p>A young buyer moving into a London apartment measuring just 376 square feet commissioned <a href="https://www.ciao.archi/">CIAO Architects </a>to custom-design the interiors with bespoke space-saving furniture. Not only does this particular piece combine an entertainment center, a desk and a room divider, it also pulls an extra bed out from underneath the main bed that’s raised on a platform just behind it. Then, both the owner and a guest can sleep in what feels like separate bedrooms.</p>
<h4>A Closet Office/Reading Nook Combo</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111139" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/closet-office-reading-nook-644x965.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="965" /></p>
<p>Could you sacrifice a closet to receive an office in return?<a href="http://ameliakdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/05/to-help-get-my-art-studio-set-up.html"> This setup </a>combines a small corner desk, shelving and a reading nook in a space that would normally be dark and, depending on how you’ve organized it, potentially difficult to use to its full potential. Add some storage under the nook seat and you’re really using that space efficiently.</p>
<h4>A Half-Loft with Storage Underneath</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111126" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/half-loft-644x829.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="829" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111125" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/half-loft-toronto-2-644x829.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="829" /></p>
<p>If you’ve got plenty of vertical space, but not much floor space, check this out. Chelsea and Ryan, the owners of <a href="https://cupofjo.com/2017/03/book-filled-loft-toronto/">this Toronto apartment,</a> built a DIY loft that raises the bed just about halfway to the ceiling in order to use the storage space beneath it more effectively, Plus, they use the open wall space on either side of the bed as a closet.</p>
<h4>Everything You Need in Sweden’s Smallest Apartment</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-111138" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/sweden-small-apartment.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="967" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-111137" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/sweden-smal-apartment-2.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="969" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-111136" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/sweden-small-apartment-3.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="967" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-111135" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/sweden-small-apartmetn-4.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="428" /></p>
<p>Looking like no more than a shed from the outside,<a href="https://design-milk.com/swedens-smallest-apartment/"> this tiny cottage</a> built as affordable housing for students in Lund, Sweden doesn’t seem like it could possibly offer much until you see the inside. There’s a workspace tucked under the bed loft, a mini closet, a dining table for two with storage above it, a kitchenette, a bathroom and lots of racks and shelves. Those skylights help a lot, too.</p>
<h4>Platform Window Seat with Lots of Storage Underneath</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-111130" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/window-nook-barcelona-644x460.jpg" alt="" width="644" height="460" /></p>
<p>Prior to renovation, this apartment in Barcelona required an awkward step up onto the slightly elevated terrace. The aptly named<a href="http://www.nookarchitects.com/"> Nook Architects</a> decided to make that platform an intentional part of the living space by extending it into the room and inserting storage beneath it.</p>
