    <p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10461" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/mainmontage.jpg" alt="mainmontage" width="468" height="559" /></p>
<p><!--wsa:gooold-->In today&#8217;s sex-saturated society, <a title="18 Safe Sex Ads" href="https://weburbanist.com/2009/05/08/18-creative-safe-sex-ads/">creative advertisements promoting safe sex</a>, condoms and HIV and AIDS awareness have become mainstream. With sex seemingly being everywhere in our culture, largely thanks to companies such as <a title="" href="https://www.hdpornvideo.xxx/">hdpornvideo</a>, it is important that positive messages are being sent out regarding sex. Some of the ads are shocking, some are cute, but they all creatively get the message across. Sexually transmitted diseases are no longer simply an inconvenience. In some situations, an unplanned pregnancy, while devastating, could possibly be the best-case scenario. Safe sex is a matter of life or death.</p>
<p><span id="more-10478"></span></p>
<h4>Memorable Safe Sex Ads</h4>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10473" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe41.jpg" alt="safe41" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10462" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/montage1.jpg" alt="montage1" width="468" height="335" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.shibbay.com/siteimages/portfolio/safead.jpg">shibbay</a>, <a href="http://amysrobot.com/archives/sex/">amysrobot</a>, <a href="http://euroross.blogspot.com/noaction.jpg">euroross</a>)</h6>
<p>Most safe sex ads are creatively designed, just as other ads are, to get your attention quickly. The most successful advertisements are also memorable and leave a lasting impression. This is a particularly important component of safe sex ads. The message must be clear and it must stick in order to work. Trojan&#8217;s ads featuring men as pigs were particularly effective.</p>
<h4>A Beastly Burden</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10477" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe3.jpg" alt="safe3" width="468" height="596" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10466" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe211.jpg" alt="safe211" width="468" height="317" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10465" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe20.jpg" alt="safe20" width="468" height="317" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://pinoyhivplus.blogspot.com/2007_11_25_archive.html">pinoyhivplus</a>, <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/focus/top_safe_sex_ideas/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>These ads use animal and giant insect images to convey the dangers of unprotected sex. Scorpions, spiders and snakes can all be frightening and harmful if not handled safely. Through creative advertising for AIDS awareness and condom use, the analogy to safe sex is made.</p>
<h4>HIV and AIDS Awareness</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10475" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe45.jpg" alt="safe45" width="468" height="331" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10464" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe6.jpg" alt="safe6" width="468" height="337" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.spiegel.de/img/0,1020,835473,00.jpg">spiegel</a>, <a href="http://www.sajaforum.org/2007/03/health_safesex_.html">sajaforum</a>)</h6>
<p>Safe sex activism is a vital part of many communities. Those not content to run ads and hope that the message gets across take it a step further and go out into their communities and spread the word. Local events help reinforce HIV and AIDS awareness advertisements and promote safe sex through the use of condoms.</p>
<h4>Safe Sex Prevents So Many Problems</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10467" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe22.jpg" alt="safe22" width="468" height="661" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10463" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/montage2.jpg" alt="montage2" width="468" height="548" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/focus/top_safe_sex_ideas/">coloribus</a>, <a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/safe%20ad/yourpinup1/BeSafe.jpg?t=1192283021">yourpinup1</a>, <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_27eW2cWWSMs/RxRPJ3ZVpRI/AAAAAAAAAF8/maJxi26EZo0/s400/aids.jpg">blogspot</a>)</h6>
<p>What&#8217;s the worst that could happen? Many people don&#8217;t take the time to think it though carefully before making a decision in the heat of the moment that could change their lives forever, or cut their time on earth short. An unplanned pregnancy can be a major problem, but given the other devastation that can come from unprotected sex, a surprise pregnancy pales in comparison.</p>
<h4>Lighthearted, Yet Deadly Serious</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10474" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe44.jpg" alt="safe44" width="468" height="357" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10472" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe40.jpg" alt="safe40" width="468" height="672" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10471" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe38.jpg" alt="safe38" width="468" height="330" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.cityfood.com/EN/valentine%27s_specials/">cityfood</a>, <a href="http://files.coloribus.com/files/paedia/print/part_19/196493/preview_600_861.jpg">coloribus</a>, <a href="http://www.schemamag.ca/archive2/2008/05/guillermo_vega.html">schemamag</a>)</h6>
<p>These clever ads take a more lighthearted approach to promoting safe sex, while still pushing the message about the deadly consequences of unprotected sex. Crash test dummies are always popular, no matter what they&#8217;re doing, and are icons for safety. Sexing skeletons may make us laugh, but the underlying message still comes through.</p>
<h4>The Infidelity Issue</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10468" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe28.jpg" alt="safe28" width="468" height="702" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10469" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe29.jpg" alt="safe29" width="468" height="702" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10470" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe30.jpg" alt="safe30" width="468" height="702" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/admirror/aids_is_not_a_gift/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>These ads speak to the segment of the population who are unfaithful and engage in sex outside of their marriages or serious relationships. For these people, safe sex is not only about protecting their own health, it also involves their significant other. Although the spouse or partner may be blissfully unaware of the affair, bringing home an STD will change all of that very quickly. Unprotected sex can not only ruin your life, but the lives of those who care about you the most too.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10458" title="ssmontage1" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/ssmontage1.jpg" alt="ssmontage1" width="468" height="334" /></p>
<p><!--wsa:gooold-->Decades ago, it was taboo to mention sex on television or in advertising. Thankfully, times have changed and adults can now be much more open about their sexuality. Sex is no longer repressed as if it&#8217;s a dirty secret, and marketing minds have finally figured out that sex sells. Sex as entertainment is now widely available from places such as <a title="" href="https://www.tubev.sex/">TubeVSEX</a> in a way that it never has been before. With the sex-saturation in the media came the need for public service announcements about safe sex, and a market for creative condom advertisements was born. It&#8217;s sexy to be safe.<br />
<span id="more-10413"></span></p>
<h4>Sex in Music</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10459" title="mtv1" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/mtv1.jpg" alt="mtv1" width="467" height="476" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10399" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/lilwayne.jpg" alt="lilwayne" width="468" height="624" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://giantrealm.gameriot.com/music/lil-wayne-strapped">gameriot</a>, <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/focus/top_safe_sex_ideas/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>With sex seeping from nearly every music video, MTV has run a series of responsible ads promoting safe sex. The vintage photos used in the ads depict a sexual threesome and read, &#8220;Except for AIDS, nothing has changed.&#8221; They serve as a grim, yet important reminder about the importance of safe sex practices. Lil Wayne also starred in an ad for Strapped Condoms. He&#8217;s shown under arrest with his pockets emptied on the hood of the car. Among his personal belonging are, of course, condoms.</p>
<h4>All About the Children</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10412" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe37.jpg" alt="safe37" width="468" height="309" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10417" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe21.jpg" alt="safe21" width="468" height="317" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.schemamag.ca/archive2/2008/05/guillermo_vega.html">schemamag</a>, <a href="http://www.mrmalique.com/index.php/very-safe-condoms/">mrmalique</a>)</h6>
<p>The possibility of an unplanned pregnancy is another valid scare tactic used in safe sex advertising. These ads creatively get the message across that not playing it safe can make you a parent. The children trapped behind the latex barriers in the ads above serve as excellent visuals about one of the most important virtues of condoms.</p>
<h4>Don&#8217;t Be Stupid</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10411" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe34.jpg" alt="safe34" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10402" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe5.jpg" alt="safe5" width="468" height="311" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://people.tribe.net/caroleeena/blog/f100e433-372a-405a-a233-1d5354304dc9">tribe</a>, <a href="http://www.geckoandfly.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/creative_advertisement_condom_ads.jpg">geckoandfly</a>)</h6>
<p>You wouldn&#8217;t go willingly into any other situation as dangerous as sex without protection. These ads point out that unprotected sex is just as stupid as needlessly risking your life in other ways. These simple, yet striking images illustrate the very real danger of losing your life when the common sense decision to protect yourself is ignored.</p>
<h4>The Gift of Science</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10410" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe33.jpg" alt="safe33" width="468" height="608" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10409" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe32.jpg" alt="safe32" width="468" height="608" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10408" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe31.jpg" alt="safe31" width="468" height="608" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/admirror/aids_is_not_a_gift/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>Science isn&#8217;t always sexy. These STD awareness ads are stark and to the point. By using bold images representing the nasty organisms that cause AIDS, syphilis and chlamydia and stating the obvious &#8211; that nobody wants these gifts that keep on giving &#8211; hopefully the &#8220;Be Safe&#8221; message comes across loud and clear.</p>
<h4>Abstract AIDS Awareness</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10407" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe25.jpg" alt="safe25" width="468" height="309" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/focus/top_safe_sex_ideas/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>Mainstream safe sex ads are never anti-sex. In fact, the point of most of these ads is that safe sex should be fully enjoyed. This AIDS awareness ad goes further than most with suggestive abstract imagery. While the ad is not as clear-cut as many, it is bold and effectively conveys the message to explore your sexuality, but to protect yourself while having fun.</p>
<h4>PSA About Oral Sex</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10405" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe23.jpg" alt="safe23" width="468" height="661" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.coloribus.com/focus/top_safe_sex_ideas/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>This is the safe sex ad that is hated by men everywhere. While most safe sex ads promote the use of condoms, this one shifts focus to the dangers of unprotected oral sex. The ad brings up a seldom asked question, with an answer that may be surprising to some people. <a title="All About Sex" href="http://allaboutsex.be/">AllAboutSex.be</a> promotes safer sex practices through information and education.</p>
<h4>The Hidden Dangers</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10404" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe11.jpg" alt="safe11" width="468" height="680" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-10403" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/safe10.jpg" alt="safe10" width="468" height="680" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://casualtyofdesign.wordpress.com/2008/12/14/i-love-sexually-transmited-diseases/">coloribus</a>)</h6>
<p>These clever ads for Durex condoms use a play on words approach to spread the message that things are not always as they seem. By strategically concealing part of what&#8217;s there, something sweet and entirely harmless is seen. However, as you can see by the full picture, danger lurks just below the surface. The same in very much true in life, and the concept of these ads brilliantly exposes the analogy. The message of all these ads is clear, safe sex is the only way to go.</p>
