<p>Flexible and portable, this hanging hot tub hammock can be suspended from trees or other supports or tucked into scooped-out depressions along sandy beaches or on snowy mountainsides, compact enough to be checked on a plane with its associated portable heating unit.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-81887" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/hydro-hammock-beach-water-468x263.jpg" alt="hydro hammock beach water" width="468" height="263" /></p>

<p>The highly-mobile <a href="http://hydrohammock.com/">Hydro Hammock</a> requires only 20 gallons (less than half of a typical bathtub and supports use by two adults to be used as a hot tub and can be used to line existing voids or suspended in midair. An accompanying device pumps water from wherever it is available and heats it electrically along the way &#8211; an eventual goal for future models is to use solar heat so no batteries or other external power source will be required. The extra-durable, high-tensile-strength material supports up to 700 pounds and its canvass-like surfaces give it traction for users.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-81886" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/hydro-hammock-cabin-468x263.jpg" alt="hydro hammock cabin" width="468" height="263" /></p>

<p>Aside from its core function as a hot tub, the heavy-duty fabric and associated pump can be reconfigured to turn the system into an outdoor shower or left empty and simply used as a traditional hammock. Its primary target audience, however, is people who wish to have a retreat from extreme environments, taking a hot (and optionally: bubble-filled) vessel with them for breaks from cold ocean waters in the summer or freezing outdoor temperatures in the winter.</p>

<p>More from its makers: <em>&#8220;Durable and portable hammocks ready for soothing hot or cool refreshing water. Relax, rejuvenate and fully stretch out in comfort beyond the constraints of an iron or fiberglass bathtub. Equipped with a portable water heater system, LPG or electric. Hydro Hammocks require less water than bathtubs and have a slip resistant texture. The shapes are adjustable and are easy to set up either fully or partially suspended.&#8221;</em></p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58237" alt="Compact Bathrooms Main" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Main.jpg" width="468" height="400" /><br />
Making the most of limited living space requires modular solutions that can be moved around and altered at will, and that includes bathroom fixtures. Smart, compact modular or all-in-one bathroom solutions add extra luxuries to tiny rooms, rather than taking them away, making room for tubs, saunas, spacious vanities and storage along with necessities like toilets and sinks. Here are 15 intriguing space-saving bathroom concepts.</p>
<h4>Fold-Up Bathtub</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58244" alt="Compact Bathrooms Fold Up Tub 1" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Fold-Up-Tub-1.jpg" width="468" height="317" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58257" alt="Compact Bathrooms Fold Up Tub 2" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Fold-Up-Tub-2.jpg" width="468" height="678" /></p>
<p>Few people in small urban apartments are lucky enough to have a bathtub. But that kind of relaxing amenity would be more possible if more bathtub designs resembled this one. Designer Dominik Chojnacki envisions a <a href="http://dornob.com/fold-up-bathtub-concept-designed-to-save-space-in-style/#axzz2Zardf9jt">fold-up tub</a> that nestles up against the wall when not in use. Too bad it doesn&#8217;t double as a shower for ultimate adaptability.</p>
<h4>&#8216;Oneself&#8217; For the Person Who Lives Alone</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58258" alt="Compact Bathrooms Oneself" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Oneself.jpg" width="468" height="600" /></p>
<p>In a one-room apartment where privacy isn&#8217;t a problem, perhaps something like this would work (though it would be better if it was at least partially walled off): <a href="www.yankodesign.com/2005/10/12/oneself-bathroom-for-person-who-lives-itself/">a gridded wall </a>that opens to reveal a sink, toilet and shower along with storage for towels and other items.</p>
<h4>Super-Compact Flight Concept</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58253" alt="Compact Bathrooms Flight Concept 1" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Flight-Concept-1.jpg" width="468" height="501" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58239" alt="Compact Bathrooms Flight Concept 2" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Flight-Concept-2.jpg" width="468" height="520" /></p>
<p>This <a href="http://www.yankodesign.com/2007/08/22/supercompact-bathroom/">modular all-in-one bathroom concept</a> combines a shower, sink, tub and vanity in one compact unit. A portion of the &#8216;Flight&#8217; cabinet folds down to become an elevated bathtub.</p>
<h4>Bathroom on a Wall</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58254" alt="Compact Bathrooms FluidWall" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-FluidWall.jpg" width="468" height="600" /></p>
<p>Here&#8217;s another concept that <a href="http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/03/09/bathroom-on-a-wall/">hides bathroom fixtures in a wall </a>so they&#8217;re out of the way when not in use. Each panel of the Fluid Wall has identical hidden mounting points so various components can be swapped out as desired by the user including sinks, toilets, shelves and storage.</p>
<h4>Space-Saving Tulip Shower</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58252" alt="Compact Bathrooms Tulip Shower 2" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Tulip-Shower-2.jpg" width="468" height="357" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-58251" alt="Compact Bathrooms Tulip Shower 1" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Compact-Bathrooms-Tulip-Shower-1.jpg" width="468" height="847" /></p>
<p>The <a href="http://dornob.com/space-saving-tulip-shower-blooms-into-a-luxury-bathtub/">Tulip Shower </a>is an actual dual-usage, fold-up fixture that serves as a shower when standing or a tub when laying down. It looks sort of like a futuristic space pod full of high-powered massagers and underwater jets. The back surface of the shower provides a space to lean against when you&#8217;re lounging in the tub.</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42274" title="bathtub storage solutions" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/bathtub-storage-solutions.jpg" width="468" height="422" /></p>
<p>There was a time when the bathroom was seen as a rather utilitarian room, there only to serve some very mundane functions. But that identity has changed over the years, and now we see the bathroom as a place to relax and escape &#8211; even if only for a few minutes. Relaxation comes with a lot of accessories, though, and these gorgeous bathtubs with built-in storage are perfect for storing books, bubbles, and all of the other things we need for a soothing bath.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42275" title="storage bathtub spa" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/storage-bathtub-spa.jpg" width="468" height="346" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.blubleu.it/product.php?c=3&amp;p=81">blubleu</a>)</h6>
<p>This spa tub with built-in storage shelves may be the ultimate in bathtime relaxation. The two-person tub includes backrests on either side for sitting up comfortably, as well as a row of soft charcoal-colored pillows. An integrated bookshelf offers ample space for all of your scented candles, novels and boxes of chocolates.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42278" title="egg tub with bookcase" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/egg-tub-with-bookcase.jpg" width="468" height="518" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/storage-in-your-bathtub-143991">Apartment Therapy</a>)</h6>
<p>A surprisingly elegant bathtub from Rexa Designs seems to delicately balance on a small bookcase platform. The egg-shaped tub offers a gently curved space in which to wash away the worries of the day, while the integrated shelves give you the perfect place to store shampoos, bubbles, incense and your favorite books.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42276" title="drawer storage bathtub" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/drawer-storage-bathtub.jpg" width="468" height="540" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://freshome.com/2011/06/24/innovative-bathroom-furniture-bathtub-with-drawers/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FreshInspirationForYourHome%20%28Fresh%20Inspiration%20for%20Your%20Home%29">Freshome</a>)</h6>
<p>As a practical small-space solution, the Keops Evolution bathtub is a brilliant way to keep your favorite things close by. It boasts drawers for towels and washcloths, shelves for candles and bath products and a sliding door for hiding less-attractive accessories like razors and mustache bleaching kits. Integrated jets and optional backrests ensure that every bath is a serene experience.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42279" title="tub and tray" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/tub-and-tray.jpg" width="468" height="468" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/storage-in-your-bathtub-143991">Apartment Therapy</a>)</h6>
<p>Although it has no drawers and a relatively small amount of storage compared to some of the other tubs here, the Tub and Tray from designer Jamie Hayon is an incredibly elegant addition to any bathroom. The clean white tub is surrounded by dark wood with lovely curved legs, giving it a classical but modern aesthetic. A shelf at the foot of the tub allows just enough space for a bottle of champagne and a glass or two.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42277" title="library bathtub" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/library-bathtub.jpg" width="468" height="350" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.malinlundmark.com/design.html">Malin Lundmark</a>)</h6>
<p>A truly beautiful creation from Swedish designer Malin Lundmark, the Library Bath is a whimsical combination of an armchair, a bookshelf and a bathtub. People who can&#8217;t stand to stop reading even long enough to get clean will appreciate being able to store a rather large selection of books on the integrated shelf for some light tub reading.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42280" title="tub drawer levers" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/tub-drawer-levers.jpg" width="468" height="279" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/storage-in-your-bathtub-143991">Apartment Therapy</a>)</h6>
<p>The standard oval-shaped tub has a lot of empty, wasted space beneath it. These add-on panels with tilt-out storage are the perfect DIY solution for adding some concealed storage space in the bathroom.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42281" title="tub with pull out drawers" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/tub-with-pull-out-drawers.jpg" width="468" height="317" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/storage-in-your-bathtub-143991">Apartment Therapy</a>)</h6>
<p>Another aftermarket add-on, this storage platform gives you pull-out drawers and/or cubbies in which to stash your necessary bits and bobs which which to make your bath a luxurious affair. You&#8217;ll need a rather relaxing bath after you get the bill for this magnificent fixture, though: it&#8217;s over $17K as shown.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-42282" title="rectangle tub and shelves" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/rectangle-tub-and-shelves.jpg" width="468" height="308" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.italiandesign360.com/products/Product_profile.aspx?idp=4218&amp;name=Biblio">ItalianDesign360</a>)</h6>
<p>The Biblio bookcase was designed especially for book lovers. Its sturdy bookshelves keep a wide variety of your favorite books close at hand, so if you get tired of one all you have to do is reach over the side and grab another.</p>

<p><!--wsa:gooold-->Showers, bathtubs, etc., are no longer plumbing fixtures. They are pieces of beautifully designed and carefully crafted furniture that aren&#8217;t just meant to be utilitarian, they are meant to complement your personality and facilitate your lifestyle. The following collection is sometimes intricate, sometimes minimalist, but always beautiful and practical.</p>
<p><span id="more-7361"></span></p>
<h4>Gruppo Treesse &#8211; Milo</h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7364" title="milo-1" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/milo-1.jpg" width="468" height="269" /></h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7365" title="milo-2" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/milo-2.jpg" width="468" height="327" /></h4>
<h6>(source: <a href="http://www.gruppotres.it/entra.html" target="_blank">gruppotreesse</a>)</h6>
<p>Another design by Alessandro Lenarda, Milo is much more unconventional. With options of leather or wood headrests and drawers, this Japan-inspired tub experiments with combination of disparate elements while maintaining beautiful geometric symmetry and stylish craftsmanship.</p>
<h4>Artweger &#8211; Twinline Shower &amp; Bath</h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7366" title="twinline-1" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/twinline-1.jpg" width="468" height="393" /></h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7367" title="twinline-2" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/twinline-2.jpg" width="468" height="395" /></h4>
<h6>(source: <a href="http://www.artweger.at/app1/mouseover.jsp?pg=Dynamische%20Seite|Twinline|Produkte|TWINLINE%20Einleitung&amp;lg=en" target="_blank">artweger</a>)</h6>
<p>Why compromise when you can have the best of both worlds and be economical at the same time? With the all-in-one Twinline design from Artweger you no longer need to decide between a shower and a tub, or be forced into one option because your small bathroom can&#8217;t accomodate both. Small but beautiful and functional, Twinline allows you to enjoy a bath when you&#8217;re in the mood while giving you the option of a quick shower when you&#8217;re in a rush.</p>
<h4>Jacuzzi Morphosis &#8211; Alpha</h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7378" title="aplha-1" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/aplha-1.jpg" width="468" height="426" /></h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7379" title="aplha-2" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/aplha-2.jpg" width="468" height="160" /></h4>
<h6>(source: <a href="http://www.jacuzzi-morphosis.it/english/pininfarina/alpha.html" target="_blank">jacuzzi-morphosis</a>)</h6>
<p>The Alpha from Morphosis is a two-person whirlpool tub with an unforgettable design. Inspired by nature, the design aims to &#8216;envelop, charm, and amaze&#8217;, but is not all beauty, it also comes with hydrotherapy and hydromassage built-in. The arch of the tub embraces you in a protective gesture simpilar to that of a seashell.</p>
<h4>usTogether &#8211; Ebb Collection</h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7374" title="ebb-1" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/ebb-1.jpg" width="468" height="269" /></h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7375" title="ebb-2" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/ebb-2.jpg" width="468" height="248" /></h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7376" title="ebb-3" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/ebb-3.jpg" width="468" height="267" /></h4>
<h6>(source: <a href="http://www.ustogether.eu/" target="_blank">ustogether</a>)</h6>
<p>The Ebb bathroom concept is innovative, beautiful and practical. The incredibly modern design is formed by fusing together concepts of bath, sink, and shelving units into a natural symmetry and connectivity. The bathtub and sink are made from natural acrylic stone and both have semi-transparent glass side panels.</p>
<h4>Tueco &#8211; Hydrospa Seaside</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7368" title="hydrospa-1" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/hydrospa-1.jpg" width="468" height="281" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7369" title="hydrospa-2" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/hydrospa-2.jpg" width="468" height="327" /></p>
<h6>(source: <a href="http://www.teuco.it/" target="_blank">tueco</a>)</h6>
<p>The latest Seaside bathtub from Tueco is truly fantastic. Backed by studies and certifications, the bathtub is whisper quiet, ensuring the only sound you hear is the soothing sound of water flowing gently, allowing you to relax without any distractions. With patented hydrosonic ultrasound technology, Tueco&#8217;s bathtub doesn&#8217;t just bring superficial comfort, it massages 2/3 cm deep into the skin, 3 million times per second, and evenly distributes the effects throughout your body.</p>
<h4>Gruppo Treesse &#8211; Calypso</h4>
<h4><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7362" title="calypso-1" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/calypso-1.jpg" width="468" height="255" /></h4>

<p>Designed by Alessandro Lenarda, Calypso Wenge is an experiment with wood design. With no superstructure to support it, the wooden shape itself becomes the shelf. At 183x70x61/79, Calypso is a deep tub with a comfortable backrest which will truly help you relax.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a minimalist design, it doesn&#8217;t get better than this. While keeping it incredibly simple, the designers haven&#8217;t compromised on elegance and beauty. Predominantly using transparent glass (with touches of stainless steel) the finished product is both visually luxurious and deceptively simple at the same time. The collection includes wash basins, faucets and a tub.</p>
