<p>A clever domestic design to eliminate ungainly collections of measuring spoons and cups, Polygons is an ingenious cooking multi-tool that measures different amounts on demand and <a href="https://weburbanist.com/?s=flat+pack">packs flat</a> when not in use.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-98279" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/polygons.gif" alt="polygons" width="640" height="400" /></p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-98278" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/kitchenmultitool.gif" alt="kitchenmultitool" width="640" height="400" /></p>
<p>The key to the device is its flexibility, and not just in terms of measuring. Its creators claim it can flex up to 100,000 times without breaking thanks to TPR-based hinges.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-98275" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/four-configurations-644x253.jpg" alt="four-configurations" width="644" height="253" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-98273" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/spreading-stuff-644x446.jpg" alt="spreading-stuff" width="644" height="446" /></p>
<p>Each tool (a teaspoon and tablespoon variant) has four different measuring configurations and can also be used to spread things in its flat formation.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-98277" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/kitchen-tool-powder-644x430.jpg" alt="kitchen-tool-powder" width="644" height="430" /></p>
<p>The creators claim it works equally well with runny and viscous liquids as well as powders, then wash easily to avoid stains and smells.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-wide644 wp-image-98276" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/kitchen-measuring-device-644x483.jpg" alt="kitchen-measuring-device" width="644" height="483" /></p>
<p><div class='video-box'><iframe type='text/html' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/XNmo3qZVaT8?rel=0' frameborder='0' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe></div></p>
<p>If the material science side of the project holds it could have a lot more applications as well for everyday-use objects that need to bend without extraneous hinging mechanisms (which add bulk to a product as well as a point of failure and cracks for dirt and debris).</p>

<p>Boasting practical portability with an eye to aesthetics, the new <a href="http://www.powervision.me/">PowerEgg</a> stands out against its more ungainly competitors, able to fold up into a smooth oval when not in use.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-89293" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/powervision-egg-drone-468x286.jpg" alt="powervision egg drone" width="468" height="286" /></p>
<p><div class='video-box'><iframe type='text/html' src='http://www.youtube.com/embed/4QVK3B7hsFQ?rel=0' frameborder='0' webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe></div></p>
<p>PowerVision &#8220;wanted to create a beautiful yet functional design for the poweregg,&#8221; explains CEO Wally Zheng. &#8220;The oval shape is not only clean and pure but also has the structural and functional benefits. This simple yet vital design means that this is more than a flying robot but a work of art.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-89291" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/poweregg-size-468x487.jpg" alt="poweregg size" width="468" height="487" /></p>
<p>The device features a 360-degree panoramic HD camera able to relay long-range video, advanced optical flow sensors for indoor navigation and an easy-to-use remote control.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-89290" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/powervision-detail-468x240.jpg" alt="powervision detail" width="468" height="240" /></p>
<p>Developed over a year and a half, a great deal of work went into structural engineering, particularly making the moving parts work as it transforms to active from passive modes and back again.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-89292" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/poweregg-deployed-468x287.jpg" alt="poweregg deployed" width="468" height="287" /></p>
<p>&#8220;We want flying a drone to be child’s play, something even a five-year-old can do,’ continued Zheng. &#8220;With this next generation of drones, much like the internet expanded access to information in the virtual world, drones 2.0 led by innovations like the PowerEgg can expand access to the physical world and bring together humans and machines in this journey.&#8221;</p>

<p>From its creator: <em>&#8220;In our loud and busy world a moment of silence has become a scarce and almost luxurious experience. The pebble like device you can see here lets you reclaim that silence for your home. With its concentric broadband antenna rings, it harvests the energy of electromagnetic noise from Wi-Fi, and similar signals and this way also reduces the level of e-smog pollution in your environment.&#8221;</em></p>

<p>Having already raised four times its $100,000 crowfunding goal on <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bitbangerlabs/pixelstick-light-painting-evolved">Kickstarter</a>, the popularity of this incredible gadget speaks for itself &#8211; but no worries: you still have one month to back the project. Their short promotional video is a must-see illustration of the vast possibilities.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" alt="animated-street-art" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/animated-street-art.gif" width="468" height="264" /></p>

<p>The breadth of possibilities is breath-taking, from graffiti tags to animated rainbows (above), mesmerizing patterns to abstract compositions (below).</p>

<p>The gadget&#8217;s creators point out that light painting dates back nearly 125 years yet the tools used to create it have evolved only on the side of cameras and not in terms of the actual methods of illumination.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" alt="animated light art stick" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/animated-light-art-stick.jpg" width="468" height="266" /></p>

<p>The founders of <a href="http://bitbangerlabs.com/">Bitbanger Labs</a> saw this market void as a worthy challenge and began experimenting with drafts and prototypes, slowly developing a handheld wonder with powerful features even they did not anticipate at the beginning.</p>

<p>With batteries running low, your eye roams the room for a place to plug in, but then you remember: you brought your own power supply &#8211; all you need now is a window. Portable, easy and green, this solar socket design is a stroke of genius, able to both generate and hold a charge.</p>

<p>A suction cup lets you stick the converter to any flat glazed surface, putting photovoltaic panels on the outside and a customary energy outlet on the other. And if you are worried about what happens at night or in overcast conditions: the device itself can store energy for in-place or mobile use.</p>

<p><strong> Kyuho Song &amp; Boa Oh</strong> have added a few other functional quirks to the design: rotate your charger plug and you kill the power, spinning a circular cut-off switch built into the face plate. There is a second manual on/off switch on the bottom as well.</p>
