In Danish, the term “skaeve huse” means something like “special houses for special people.” This project, built in 2006, provides housing for people who are unable to procure traditional housing due to mental illness and other issues that cause landlords to see them as “problem” tenants.
Living in NYC is confusing enough, but trying to read through government guidelines is nearly impossible. These projects clarify, enlighten and even entertain.
As the population expands and more of us look for affordable and available housing, architects and designers are making the move toward cheaper, greener, tinier options.
