Frequent themes in the thoughtful work of Guy Laramée include mountains and lakes, caves and rivers, glaciers and waves, deserts and oases, all semi-abstract yet recognizable at the same time, and all emerging from old printed books.
Some also tie into the themes of the books they are made from, like a Buddha statue or zen garden cut into a volume from China or Japan. Like Chinese landscape drawings or Japanese bonsai trees, there is something meditative and contemplative about many of his works as well.
