Putin On Weight?
Flickr user Matthias captured these images of an abandoned Russian Army gym in February of 2008. The bold colors and folk art level artistry lend a certain charm to the place while the decaying, flaking paint evokes comparisons to ruined Byzantine frescoes in churches and monasteries over a thousand years old.
Weird Wide World Of Sports World
How in the wide world of sports is Sports World still standing? Abandoned in 1993 (check out the old-school “donkey ear” side mirrors on the abandoned cars), this once-ritzy all-inclusive Japanese fitness resort is slowly being subsumed back into the jungle but understandably, the jungle is finding it difficult to digest. Kudos to urbex explorer extraordinaire Michael John Grist for the spectacularly spooky images above.
