Adam Kalkin specializes in unusual homes using unusual design characteristics, and his Quik House design doesn’t disappoint. It unashamedly tells of its origins as shipping containers – rust spots and all – but the inside is just as comfortable as any traditional home. Kalkin promises that Quik Homes will take no longer than three months to assemble on-site, with the building being fully enclosed by the end of the first day. The standard 2,000 square foot, three bedroom floorplan uses about 75% recycled materials and can be placed just about anywhere that a home can be built. In short, it seems like the perfect solution for the family that wants a custom-built green home, but doesn’t want to wait for it.
