Flickr user Udronotto (Marco Pece) mixes LEGOs with painted or photographed scenes to recreate famous paintings, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks at the Diner and Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring.
Outings: Classic Art Brought to the Streets
In an interactive art project called ‘Outings,’ French artist Julien de Casabianca invites the public to snap photos of lesser-known portraits hanging in art museums, print them out and paste them onto urban surfaces. The project removes the characters from their historical and cultural contexts to give them new life beyond dusty, rarely-examined museum corners.
