<p>The holiday season is about friends, family, and feeling close to one&#8217;s fellow man. This is all well and good, but it&#8217;s also an excuse to go absolutely insane with decorations. After a couple of decades living in the same house, some people build up quite a collection of decorations, until it all gets awesomely out of control.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44669" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Decorations-2.jpg" width="468" height="900" /></p>

<p>The top image showcases a truly wild light show that takes place annually at a private residence. Seeing just one corner of a yard is only a hint of what else they have up their sleeve, and you can see the rest <a href="http://dontcallmebecky.typepad.com/rebekah/2009/12/local-light-show.html">here</a>. The middle image is from the San Antonio River Walk, a festival that celebrates with an incredible array of beautiful lights, with a lot of the high class decorating that is not always present in these set ups. In New York, this glimpse at another private residence makes one wonder how much it costs to power all those lights each year. Click <a href="http://www.sweetfineday.com/2009/12/christmas-lights-gone-wild/">here</a> to see more.</p>

<p>In Toronto, Canada, Benjamin Boake Trail leads to one of the most intense Christmas displays in the city. For sheer luminescence, it&#8217;s a difficult one to beat. The second house looks more like the Vegas strip than a place that someone actually lives, while the final image shows a tad bit more class.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44670" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Decorations-3.jpg" width="468" height="410" /></p>

<p>Most homeowners stop decorating once they literally don&#8217;t have an inch of their house left to color in lights&#8230; thankfully, not everyone does. Whether the house is plastered in lights like the top left example, or the lights leak out into the lawn like the house at bottom right, it&#8217;s amazing to see the effort some people put into their setup. Going a bit simplistic is better for some folks, as the top right and bottom left images attest.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44671" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Decorations-4.jpg" width="468" height="650" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://fooyoh.com/menknowpause_lifestyle_living/4368993">fooyoh</a>, <a href="http://timnealon.com/2011/12/27/the-christmas-car-in-savannah/">timnealon</a>, <a href="http://www.tampalights.com/2008/Volkswagen-Beetle/6640788_T5QWMp#!i=423666238&amp;k=E57qZ">tampalights</a>, <a href="http://www.welovedc.com/2010/12/17/christmas-lights-car-and-bike-parade/">welovedc</a>)</h6>
<p>If someone doesn&#8217;t own a house to decorate, or just wants to bring their zest for the holidays out on the road, there&#8217;s always the option to decorate a vehicle. This pickup truck takes the cake (and probably extra car batteries) for its intense setup that covers every square inch of its body. Not to be outdone, a blue sedan takes to the night with cool blue colors lighting up the street. A more humble Beetle sits stolidly as a piece of decoration, while a chopper makes waves with lights that make it appear like it&#8217;s simply an illustration and not an actual street vehicle.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44672" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Decorations-5.jpg" width="468" height="722" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://gawker.com/5866716/behold-the-worlds-best-christmas-lights/gallery/1">gawker</a>, <a href="http://coolfwdmail.blogspot.com/2009/12/insane-amounts-of-christmas-lights.html">coolfwdmail</a>, <a href="http://1funny.com/crazy-christmas-house/">1funny</a>, <a href="http://www.stickboydaily.com/really/112-pictures-crazy-house-christmas-light-decorations/">stickyboydaily</a>)</h6>
<p>When it comes to decorating, more is better, right? Some people definitely think so! This top house seems to have entire scenes going on, while the inside of this person&#8217;s house in the United Kingdom is filled to the gills, with an annual display they had to shut down after the power bill became too much to handle. The bottom house looks like it&#8217;s being weighed down by the incredible number of inflatable decorations they have in place. While the final home has a good mix between luminescent decorations and good old inflatables.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44673" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Decorations-6.jpg" width="468" height="726" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://www.rofltime.com/the-most-insane-houses-with-christmas-decorations/">rofltime</a>, <a href="http://californiathroughmylens.com/2011/11/mission-inn-festival-of-lights-in-riverside-ca/">californiathroughmylens</a>, <a href="http://coolfwdmail.blogspot.com/2009/12/insane-amounts-of-christmas-lights.html">coolfwdmail</a>, <a href="http://walyou.com/christmas-lights/">walyou</a>)</h6>
<p>Intense decorations can look classy, as these homes show. Using only white lights make this house stand out, and the snow around it only serves to help the image. Giant nutcrackers stand in front of the Mission Inn during their festival of lights in Riverside California, and they do just fine without any snow to help. The bottom house wins the award for sheer number of lights, yet they manage to keep it orderly enough to not look too garish. Last but not least, a large house stands adorned in classic decorations, with a faux tree made out of strings of light to decorate the yard.</p>

<p>Despite the fact that Thanksgiving just concluded, everyone&#8217;s eyes are already looking forward to the Christmas season. These fantastic holiday murals are a tease as the holiday rapidly approaches.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44483" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Graffiti-2.jpg" width="468" height="351" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://designalmic.com/3d-street-art-julian-beever/3d-street-art-by-julian-beever-christmas-eve-in-santas-workshop/">designalmic</a>, <a href="http://crashwilliams.wordpress.com/tag/christmas/">crashwilliams</a>)</h6>
<p>Renowned 3D chalk artist Julian Beever is no stranger to holiday themes. This particular work is a glimpse into Santa&#8217;s workshop, hidden in the North Pole. A gun-toting Santa is an interesting street art twist on the jolly gentleman.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44482" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Graffiti-1.jpg" width="468" height="526" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://artofsamevans.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html">artofsamevans</a>, <a href="http://grafitiigallery.com/?attachment_id=3871">grafitiigallery</a>, <a href="http://creativespark.wordpress.com/2011/12/07/naughty-or-nice/">creativespark</a>)</h6>
<p>&#8220;Siberian Santa&#8221; is an art mural in Melbourne, Australia with an interesting Tim Burton-esque style to it. The muted colors differentiate it strongly from most Christmas-themed art, which seems to prize garishness as a defining motif. Few characters can light up a dark street corner like old St. Nick, spray painted here in a popular graffiti corner. For people who like to play devil&#8217;s advocate, the mural featuring the Grinch is a fun response to the typical messages of holiday cheer.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44484" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Graffiti-3.jpg" width="468" height="655" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://www.cultureclimax.com/culture/art/graffiti-friday-christmas-edition">cultureclimax</a>, <a href="http://www.heelsandwheelsonline.com/2010/02/how-to-move-to-australia-five-steps/">heelsandwheelsonline</a>, <a href="http://creativespark.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/santa-claus-is-coming-to-town/">creativespark</a>, <a href="http://democrashield.wordpress.com/2009/12/25/christmas-street-art-december-25-2009/">democrashield</a>)</h6>
<p>Christmas isn&#8217;t all fun and games to these graffiti artists. In the top image, a tree defends itself against an ax-wielding assailant and does some morbid decorating of its own. A mural depicting a gangster Santa sits astride a warm beach in Australia. In Singapore, artist Slacsatu shows a badass Santa with fists of fury and enough muscle to take on the Hulk. Lastly, a flowing christmas tree adorns a lonely street corner.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-44486" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Graffiti-5.jpg" width="468" height="645" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://www.cultureclimax.com/culture/art/graffiti-friday-christmas-edition">cultureclimax</a>, <a href="http://graffitilife.co.uk/">graffitilife</a>, <a href="http://graffiti-walls.blogspot.com/2010/12/recycling-merry-christmas-graffiti-on.html">graffiti-walls</a>)</h6>
<p>In this top image, Santa&#8217;s sleigh is envisioned as an endless chain, like a train pulling the world&#8217;s gifts through the sky. A take on the classic Coca-Cola ads adorns the side of a building, created by <a href="http://graffitilife.co.uk/">Graffiti Life</a>, a graffiti service that does custom work in the UK. Lastly, a train car is dressed up like a giant gift, traveling miles on the tracks to end up under one lucky kid&#8217;s tree.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Christmas-Graffiti-4.jpg" width="468" height="730" /></p>
<h6>(Images via <a href="http://whereverdesign.wordpress.com/category/street-art/">whereverdesign</a>, <a href="http://www.panoramio.com/photo/51563915">panoramio</a>, <a href="http://canalstreet.canalplus.fr/arts/news/arts-the-city-26">canalstreet</a>, <a href="http://graffiti-walls.blogspot.com/2010/12/recycling-merry-christmas-graffiti-on.html">graffiti-walls</a>)</h6>
<p>Holiday cheer can be drawn from any source, even the dust (or frost?) on the windshield of a car. On the back of one building in Australia, Santa stands next to a kangaroo, clearly lost during his trip around the world. Artist Choq came up with this festive and crazy ode to Christmas, tagging, and chaos. Last but not least, Santa raises a cup and wishes everyone a happy holiday season!</p>

From “jive turkeys” to WKRP&#8217;s notorious televised <a href="https://weburbanist.com/2009/11/26/almost-edible-13-crazy-thanksgiving-case-mods/" target="_blank">Thanksgiving</a> airdrop, turkeys have historically gotten less respect than the late Rodney Dangerfield&#8230; or have they? These 12 tall &amp; tasteful turkey statues pay well-deserved tribute to the succulent bird that gave sustenance to the Pilgrims.</p>
<p><span id="more-44310"></span></p>
<h4>Rotate Your Tired Turkey</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44319" title="turkey_9" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_9.jpg" width="468" height="427" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tyre_Turkey_-_geograph.org.uk_-_900511.jpg">Wikimedia</a>)</span></p>
<p>Turkey for Thanksgiving dinner may be big in the USA but back in Merry Olde England the bodacious bird is more commonly consumed for Christmas dinner. Take a Sunday drive through rural British farmlands in December and you&#8217;ll come across countless giant turkeys advertising roasters for sale. Some look more lifelike than most, others like the “tired old turkey” above sacrifice authenticity for expediency. God bless us everyone!</p>
<h4>Mall Rats Meet the Mall Turkey</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44323" title="turkey_1a" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_1a.jpg" width="468" height="725" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://tekniklr.tumblr.com/post/5072147467">Tekniklr</a>, <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/buddyscalera/6608212441/">Buddy Scalera</a> and <a href="http://mallsofamerica.blogspot.ca/2007/05/paramus-park-mall-turkey-statue.html">Malls of America</a>)</span></p>
<p>Either that&#8217;s a really small boy or a really big turkey, and only artist Christopher Parks knows for sure! The “Wild Turkey” statue/sculpture was presented to the people of Paramus, New Jersey on March 14th of 1974 in conjunction with the opening of the Paramus Park mall on that date. Originally located on the mall&#8217;s main floor, the artwork was eventually moved to the second floor where it resides today.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44324" title="turkey_1b" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_1b.jpg" width="468" height="620" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/buddyscalera/3898126587/in/photostream">Buddy Scalera</a>)</span></p>
<p>What&#8217;s the connection between <a href="http://ekendradasa.com/uncategorized/a-fertile-land-where-corn-was-grown-attracting-wild-turkeys/" target="_blank">Paramus and turkeys</a>? We&#8217;re glad you asked: it seems that the colonial settlement was named “Parampsepsus” by the local Leni Lenape tribe, which means a fertile land where maize was grown and where wild turkeys were abundant. The more you know!</p>
<h4>Renaissance Roaster</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44325" title="turkey_2" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_2.jpg" width="468" height="890" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/russellmcneil/7663141964/">Russellmcneil</a> and <a href="http://wiki.cultured.com/people/Giambologna/">Cultured</a>)</span></p>
<p>The renaissance artist <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giambologna" target="_blank">Giambologna</a> may sound Italian but his birth name was Jean Boulogne and he was born in Douai, Flanders in the year 1529. Moving to Florence, Italy in the mid-16th century, Giambolgna soon attracted the notice of the powerful Medici family and in 1567 crafted this astonishingly realistic turkey for the Duke&#8217;s gardens. Turkeys had only recently been introduced to Europe, having been brought back from the New World by some of the first explorers.</p>
<h4>The Hindenbird</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44326" title="turkey_3a" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_3a.jpg" width="468" height="810" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/top-lists/best-roadside-attractions-in-minnesota/">CBS Minnesota</a>, <a href="http://www.frazeecity.com/mn/index.php?D=224">City of Frazee</a> and <a href="http://missminnesotaot2012.blogspot.ca/2012/06/day-in-life.html">Miss Minnesota</a>)</span></p>
<p>Before August 8th of 1986, <a href="http://www.frazeecity.com/mn/index.php?D=57" target="_blank">Frazee</a>, Minnesota was known for its abundance of turkey farms&#8230; that was before “Big Tom” came to town. Standing 16 feet tall and made from white-painted fiberglass, cardboard and insulation attached to a steel frame, Big Tom put Frazee on the map as the home of The World&#8217;s Largest Turkey.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44327" title="turkey_3b" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_3b.jpg" width="468" height="600" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://www.frazeecity.com/mn/index.php?D=225">City of Frazee</a>)</span></p>
<p><em>Oh, the turkmanity!</em> Frazee&#8217;s most famous attraction met the fate of most actual turkeys on July 1st, 1998 when a wayward welding spark set the gargantuan gobbler&#8217;s flammable stuffing ablaze. Much like “Touchdown Jesus”, the Texas State Fair&#8217;s “Big Tex” and other flame-felled monuments, the original Big Tom&#8217;s fiery passing did not cause any human injuries though it probably wounded Frazee&#8217;s civic pride a bit. Don&#8217;t cry for Frazee, however: the original Big Tom was due to be replaced by an updated, bronze-colored version standing 30 feet tall.</p>
<h4>Gobblezilla!</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44328" title="turkey_10" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_10.jpg" width="468" height="995" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://mixedgreenz.blogspot.ca/2011/07/go-east-young-men-part-8.html">Mixed Greenz</a> and <a href="http://www.lizlyle.lofgrens.org/BrnSnift/Church.html">Elizabeth Lofgren</a>)</span></p>
<p>We&#8217;re not saying Minnesota&#8217;s got a Turkey War brewing but if one should break out, the battle between Frazee&#8217;s and Luverne&#8217;s giant turkey statues could rival Godzilla vs Megalon. Luverne is tucked into Minnesota&#8217;s most southwestern county and, naturally, is a buzzing hub of turkey farming activity. The oversized turkey bidding welcome to patrons of the Blue Mound Inn had better be nailed down good or we&#8217;re looking at (removes shades)&#8230; A Gobble-lypse Now. YEAHHH!!</p>
<h4>White Meat, Grey Towers</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44329" title="turkey_4" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_4.jpg" width="468" height="885" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://www.mommylogue.com/2011/07/grey-towers/">Mommylogue</a>)</span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.greytowers.org/" target="_blank">Grey Towers National Historic Site</a>, in Milford, PA is centered on the French-style Gifford Pinchot House built using local materials and labor in the mid-1880s. Pinchot was the first director of the United States Forest Service (USFS) and was twice elected governor of Pennsylvania. The proud and noble turkey statue above stands guard near the decorative moat on the house&#8217;s grounds.</p>
<h4>What About Bob the Turkey?</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44330" title="turkey_5a" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_5a.jpg" width="468" height="745" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://woodstock.11alive.com/news/news/90676-woodstock-wild-turkey-runs-fowl">Woodstock 11alive</a> and <a href="http://www.wsbradio.com/news/news/sculpture-bob-turkey-unveiled-woodstock/nPXBx/">WSBradio</a>)</span></p>
<p>Sure there&#8217;s a ton of turkeys on Facebook but one was a real, live turkey! Bob the Turkey from Woodstock, Georgia, still shows nearly 2,000 <a href="http://www.facebook.com/BobTheTurkey" target="_blank">Facebook likes</a> though he&#8217;s sadly passed on to the avian afterlife. What&#8217;s up with Bob and how did he earn his very own statue? It seems that Bob, a wild turkey, set up stomping grounds in a disused green space along Woodstock&#8217;s Main Street back in the summer of 2011. Pecking at police cars and gobbling at the neighborhood humans, Bob quickly endeared himself to the local Woodstockians. “He&#8217;s out here in the middle of the street,” stated resident Mitch Evans, “wreaking havoc on Woodstock traffic.” You can guess what happens next, hmm?</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44331" title="turkey_5b" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_5b.jpg" width="468" height="900" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://woodstockartglass.com/tom-bob-the-turkey-statue-on-main-st/">Woodstock Art &amp; Glass</a>)</span></p>
<p>On Sunday, January 15th of 2012, <a href="http://woodstock.11alive.com/news/news/98468-woodstock-famous-bob-turkey-hit-car-killed" target="_blank">Bob met his end</a> at the hands (tires, actually) of an automobile driving down Main Street. He was obviously missed by Woodstocks&#8217; citizens because six months later a metal statue of Bob was placed in a raised green space just outside Woodstock Art and Glass. Bruce Weinzetl of Acworth, GA made the 60-pound sculpture out of recyclable materials donated by Cherokee County residents. Probably confuses the heck out of the local pigeons.</p>
<h4>Rockingham &amp; Rolls</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44332" title="turkey_6" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_6.jpg" width="468" height="765" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://dwaynephillips.net/takingawalk/2008/09/day-10-the-other-turkey-statue/">Taking A Walk</a>)</span></p>
<p>Bill Haley and His Comets introduced the world to rock &amp; roll music with “Rock Around the Clock” back in 1955. That same year, the Virginia town of Rockingham erected two statuesque <a href="http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/11820" target="_blank">bronze &amp; stone monuments</a> to&#8230; no, not Bill Haley, to turkeys! Coincidental or not, the pair solemnly stand on the sides of Route 11 on the northern and southern borders of Rockingham County, Virginia&#8217;s turkey capitol. At least it was in &#8217;55, when farmers presumably worked around the clock.</p>
<h4>Edgefield SC&#8217;s Big Turkey Statues</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44333" title="turkey_7a" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_7a.jpg" width="468" height="735" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/auvet/5195292590/">Jimmywayne</a>, <a href="http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/29075">Roadside Examiner</a> and <a href="http://www.examiner.com/article/turkey-town">Examiner</a>)</span></p>
<p>When you&#8217;re the National Wild Turkey Federation&#8217;s home base, you celebrate the fact and <a href="http://edgefieldsc.net/" target="_blank">Edgefield</a>, South Carolina has gone whole hog&#8230; er, cold turkey? Undoubtedly the many elaborately painted fiberglass turkeys on display in Edgefield get a might chilly on clear winter nights but nobody&#8217;s complaining, least of all the turkeys.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44334" title="turkey_7b" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_7b.jpg" width="468" height="895" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/martinlabar/6468082403/">Martin LaBar</a>)</span></p>
<p>Edgefield may be small but its been home to ten of South Carolina&#8217;s governors including Strom Thurmond, who served from 1947 through 1951. These days, though, turkeys are the town&#8217;s real claim to fame and visitors get constant visual reminders of that fact as they mosey through the center of town. It&#8217;s enough to stimulate the appetite so stop in for a turkey &amp; pepperjack panini – they serve turkey in Edgefield as well as celebrate them.</p>
<h4>Hot Licques</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44335" title="turkey_8" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_8.jpg" width="468" height="825" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://kathrynsanderson.com/tag/turkey/">Kathryn Sanderson</a>)</span></p>
<p>Pamplona has the running of the bulls, Licques has the running of the turkeys&#8230; or as they call it in the local parlance, “Fête de la Dinde”. Maybe it&#8217;s not as exciting or dangerous as the traditional Spanish event but hey, when turkeys are your business you work with what you&#8217;ve got. Licques&#8217; turkey festival is no latecoming copycat, mind you, the town&#8217;s been celebrating all things turkey since the 17th century. Let them eat cake, sure, but in Licques the main course is turkey.</p>
<h4>Ride &#8216;Em Turkeyboy!</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44336" title="turkey_11a" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_11a.jpg" width="468" height="900" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://www.bildindex.de/obj20172211.html#|home">BildIndex</a>, <a href="http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fotothek_df_ps_0000762_Putti_%5E_Tiere_%5E_Vögel_%5E_Truthähne.jpg">Wikimedia</a> and <a href="http://www.panoramio.com/photo/57704443">Panoramio/Lady A</a>)</span></p>
<p>Boys riding turkeys? What&#8217;s the world coming to? Better (or worse) yet, this odd practice has been immortalized a number of times in bronze and stone. One of these “turkeyboys” can be found on the grounds of the century-old <a href="http://www.italienisches-doerfchen.de/" target="_blank">Italienisches Dörfchen</a> restaurant complex in Dresden, Germany. Georg Wrba&#8217;s whimsical sculpture has held up pretty well over the past century, all the more remarkable when one considers it&#8217;s spent those hundred years in Dresden.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44337" title="turkey_11b" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_11b.jpg" width="468" height="584" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://www.archive.org/stream/sculpturesfromac00acadrich#page/114/mode/2up">OpenLibrary.org</a>)</span></p>
<p>Albert H. Hodge (1875-1918) was a prolific Victorian-era sculptor whose work has stood the test of time in London, Cardiff and Glasgow. Hodge&#8217;s “Boy and Turkey” dates from 1907 and its companion piece – a boy riding a goat – seems utterly pedestrian by comparison.</p>
<h4>Them&#8217;s Fightin&#8217; Turkeys!</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44338" title="turkey_12" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_12.jpg" width="468" height="845" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(images via: <a href="http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Vechtende_kalkoenen_Theo_Mulder_Oudwijk_Utrecht.jpg">Wikimedia</a> and <a href="http://zoom.nl/foto/237510/dieren/vechtende-kalkoenen.html">ZOOM.nl</a>)</span></p>
<p>Turkeys aren&#8217;t exactly known for their ferocity but Theo Mulder&#8217;s 1965 sculpture “Vechtende Kalkoenen” (Fighting Turkeys) purports to state otherwise. The sculpture spent some years at the Kerkstraat in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel in the Netherlands before being moved in 1989 to its current location at the Rosarium in Oudwijk, Utrecht.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44320" title="whiteblock" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/whiteblock2.jpg" width="468" height="10" /><br />
<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-44321" title="turkey_EP" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/turkey_EP.jpg" width="468" height="357" /><span style="font-size: xx-small;">(image via: <a href="http://www.theonion.com/articles/thousands-gather-for-stuffing-of-giant-rockefeller,2605/">The Onion</a>)</span></p>
<p>More so than almost any other animal, turkeys were domesticated to provide food for people. From gobbling to being gobbled &#8211; rather ignominious, no? Yet around the world we&#8217;ve raised monuments and built statues featuring this crispy (if deep fried) critter. Go figure&#8230; and while you&#8217;re doing that, pass the stuffing!</p>

    <p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16428" title="thanksgiving case mods" alt="thanksgiving case mods" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/thanksgiving-case-mods.jpg" width="468" height="400" /></p>
<p><!--wsa:gooold-->Thanksgiving is a time for recognizing the positive things in your life, being grateful for everything you have, and acknowledging that, overall, life is good. This Thanksgiving, we&#8217;re thankful for insane computer case mods that, for one reason or another, put us in the holiday mood.<br />
<span id="more-16416"></span></p>
<h4>Suitcase PC</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16417" title="suitcase mod" alt="suitcase mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/suitcase-mod.jpg" width="468" height="266" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1012227/suitcase-nuke-pc-mod-average-camera">The Inquirer</a>)</h6>
<p>If you&#8217;re flying home for the holiday, good luck trying to get through security with this in tow. The rather suspicious-looking metal suitcase with three fans will get you pulled off to the side for a thorough search, and we&#8217;re guessing the TSA won&#8217;t be amused when they discover it&#8217;s a clever case mod that&#8217;s got them all riled up.</p>
<h4>Gingerbread House</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16418" title="gingerbread house case mod" alt="gingerbread house case mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/gingerbread-house-case-mod.jpg" width="468" height="352" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.envador.com/cases/GingerbreadPC/">Envador</a>)</h6>
<p>Once you get your belongings back, receive a stern reprimand and finally get to Mom and Dad&#8217;s house, it will probably look just as welcoming as this delightful gingerbread house. And, much like your parents&#8217; house, this one is 100% inedible &#8211; so don&#8217;t try. (Trust us.)</p>
<h4>Dollhouse PC</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16419" title="dollhouse case mod" alt="dollhouse case mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/dollhouse-case-mod.jpg" width="468" height="324" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://forums.gameon.co.uk/showthread.php?t=13289">GameOn Forum</a>)</h6>
<p>Or maybe your family home is a little more traditional-looking, like this adorable dollhouse that a loving parent transformed into a PC case for a very lucky little girl.</p>
<h4>Cooking Implements</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16420" title="cooking implements case mods" alt="cooking implements case mods" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/cooking-implements-case-mods.jpg" width="468" height="491" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/04/18/the-microwave-pc/">Engadget</a>, <a href="http://www.snapstream.com/Community/Articles/tvtoaster/">SnapStream</a>, <a href="http://www.envador.com/cases/BBQPC/">Envador</a>)</h6>
<p>When it&#8217;s time to start cooking the holiday meal, you could go with the traditional microwave or toaster oven (Don&#8217;t look at us like that. How do <em>you</em> cook turkey?), but we much prefer the contemporary tabletop barbecue option. All of these case mods were clearly built by people who have more skills in the workshop than in the kitchen.</p>
<h4>ToiletPC</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16421" title="toiletpc" alt="toiletpc" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/toiletpc.jpg" width="468" height="276" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.envador.com/cases/ToiletPC/">Envador</a>)</h6>
<p>Oh no! You say your barbecued turkey mysteriously ended up making everyone sick? Well, maybe next year you&#8217;ll stick with the microwave. Luckily, the ToiletPC can help you worship the porcelain gods in the geekiest way ever.</p>
<h4>Pizza PC</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16422" title="pizza box case mod" alt="pizza box case mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/pizza-box-case-mod.jpg" width="468" height="407" /></p>
<h6>(images via: <a href="http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/feature-guy-turns-take-out-pizza-box-into-functional-computer">Techeblog</a>)</h6>
<p>Since no one&#8217;s going to eat your cooking now anyway, why not kick back and order a few pizzas? Of course, a greasy cardboard box doesn&#8217;t seem like the best or safest place to put all of your computer innards, but this case mod would probably blend right in at any single young geek&#8217;s home base.</p>
<h4>Cake Mod</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16424" title="cake mod" alt="cake mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/cake-mod.jpg" width="468" height="329" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://gizmodo.com/245686/cebit-07-mod-contest-demonstrates-some-people-have-way-too-much-free-time">Gizmodo</a>)</h6>
<p>After your refreshingly unorthodox Thanksgiving dinner, enjoy a slice of this delicious cake-puter. This was one of the entries in the <a href="http://www.cebit.de/homepage_e">CeBIT</a> 2007 case mod contest, and it&#8217;s pretty mouth-watering for a computer.</p>
<h4>Compiano</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16423" title="compiano" alt="compiano" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/compiano.jpg" width="468" height="352" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.neatorama.com/2007/11/27/computer-piano-compiano/">Neatorama</a>)</h6>
<p>Ok, ok, we admit it: it&#8217;s a stretch to say a piano computer is holiday-related. But you gather around the piano and sing songs with your family on holidays, right? So we&#8217;re calling it Thanksgiving-relevant. This incredible computer inside a piano was originally built for Elton John.</p>
<h4>Beer Dispenser</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16425" title="beer dispenser case mod" alt="beer dispenser case mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/beer-dispenser-case-mod.jpg" width="468" height="461" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.ohgizmo.com/2006/02/09/a-beer-dispensing-pc/">Oh Gizmo</a>)</h6>
<p>It&#8217;s getting later in the day, and your aunt <em>still</em> hasn&#8217;t stopped bugging you about when you&#8217;ll be getting married and having kids. It&#8217;s time to hit the booze. Now, you may not think that mixing a sophisticated piece of hardware with liquids is a good decision. You might also think that beer + computer-generated heat = the equivalent of skunk juice. You may be correct on both counts, but how cool would it be to try it out just once?</p>
<h4>Whiskey Bottle</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16426" title="whiskey bottle case mod" alt="whiskey bottle case mod" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/whiskey-bottle-case-mod.jpg" width="468" height="526" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://metku.net/index.html?path=mods/whiskypc/index_eng">Metku Mods</a>)</h6>
<p>For those requiring something a little harder to take the edge off of family time, this whiskey bottle case mod should do the trick. Yep, that&#8217;s a real glass bottle with a real, functioning computer inside. If you&#8217;re going to try this mod at home, remember not to attempt it on the same day you kill the bottle of whiskey.</p>
<h4>Coffee Dispenser</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-16427" title="coffee pc" alt="coffee pc" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/coffee-pc.jpg" width="468" height="583" /></p>
<h6>(image via: <a href="http://www.bytemods.com/mods/44/coffee_pc.html">ByteMods</a>)</h6>
<p>For the inevitable hangover, the Coffee PC is ready and willing to provide a hot cuppa. And you don&#8217;t even have to fumble for the coffeemaker&#8217;s controls: the modder responsible for this glorious machine wrote a script that lets you make coffee by inputting a command to the PC. Genius.</p>

From us at WebUrbanist to you, our wonderful readers: enjoy your <a href="http://webecoist.com/2008/12/19/creative-reusable-recyclable-alternative-christmas-trees/?utm_source=Mozilla%2F5.0+AppleWebKit%2F537.36+%28KHTML%2C+like+Gecko%3B+compatible%3B+ClaudeBot%2F1.0%3B+%2Bclaudebot%40anthropic.com%29&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed-main-tags-holidays&utm_content=unknown&utm_term=feed-link" target="_blank">radical recycled alternative Christmas trees</a>, <a href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/12/19/strange-bizarre-geek-christmas-tree-ornaments/" target="_blank">mind-bogglingly bizarre Christmas tree ornaments</a> and have a happily offbeat holiday season!</p>
<h4><span id="more-6728"></span>Day 1: Rare and Exotic Plants and Animals</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6798" title="strange-plants-and-animals" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/strange-plants-and-animals.jpg" width="468" height="159" /></p>
<p>A partridge in a pear tree can be a tricky two-for-one but if you are aiming for <a title="100 Strange Plants and Animals" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/11/24/strange-amazing-rare-plants-animals-species/" target="_blank">exotic pets and animals and (or in) bizarre plants or trees</a> you might consider <a title="Worlds Weirdest Animals" href="http://webecoist.com/2008/11/24/weird-strange-amazin-animal-species/?utm_source=Mozilla%2F5.0+AppleWebKit%2F537.36+%28KHTML%2C+like+Gecko%3B+compatible%3B+ClaudeBot%2F1.0%3B+%2Bclaudebot%40anthropic.com%29&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed-main-tags-holidays&utm_content=unknown&utm_term=feed-link" target="_blank">inflatable-faced seals or bee-sized bats</a> which you can, respectively though uncomfortably, insert into a <a title="Worlds Weirdest Plants Flowers and Trees" href="http://webecoist.com/2008/11/19/exotic-endangered-plants-flowers-trees-forests/?utm_source=Mozilla%2F5.0+AppleWebKit%2F537.36+%28KHTML%2C+like+Gecko%3B+compatible%3B+ClaudeBot%2F1.0%3B+%2Bclaudebot%40anthropic.com%29&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed-main-tags-holidays&utm_content=unknown&utm_term=feed-link" target="_blank">gigantic baobob tree or a petite green pitcher plant</a> and wow your neighbors all around.</p>
<h4>Day 2) Twisted Toys and Strange Stuffed Animals</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6793" title="twisted-toys-and-strange-stuffed-animals" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/twisted-toys-and-strange-stuffed-animals.jpg" width="468" height="187" /></p>
<p>Two turtle doves aren&#8217;t likely to survive long in the winter so perhaps a more durable <a title="Strange and Deconstructed Stuffed Animals" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/05/14/15-creatively-twisted-stuffed-animals-intentional-and-spontaneous-distortions-of-childhood-toys/" target="_blank">(albeit deranged) stuffed animal</a> is in order? If those are just a bit too eccentric there are plenty of other <a title="Private Lives of Your Favorite Toys" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/12/06/private-lives-toys/" target="_blank">humorously alternative ways to configure toys</a> as offbeat gift options &#8211; and if they aren&#8217;t enough, there are always <a title="Scary and Creepy Mannequiins" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/12/04/scary-creepy-mannequins/" target="_blank">extremely creepy mannequins</a>.</p>
<h4>Day 3) Exotic Islands and Themed Art Hotels</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6794" title="exotic-hotels-and-islands" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/exotic-hotels-and-islands.jpg" width="468" height="187" /></p>
<p>Three french hens &#8230; OK, <a title="Bizarre and Amazing Urban Animals" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/11/17/strange-urban-animals-of-the-world-from-thieving-monkeys-to-city-chickens/" target="_blank">enough with the animals already</a>. You want to see animals? Take a trip to some exotic destination for some bird watching &#8211; like one of the most <a title="Worlds Most Expensive, Exotic and Luxurious Private Islands" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/05/20/10-private-islands-you-cant-afford-to-live-on-amazing-and-exotic-luxury-retreats/" target="_blank">expensive, exotic and remote private islands</a> in the world. Or <a title="Creative Money Art and Sculpture" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/12/14/art-from-money/" target="_blank">save some money</a> and stay somewhere closer to home at an <a title="Art, Castle, Prison and Theme Hotels" href="https://weburbanist.com/themed-castle-and-art-hotels/" target="_blank">amazing art, castle, prison and other theme hotel</a>.</p>
<h4>Day 4) Geek and Steampunk Gadgets and Art</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6795" title="geek-art-and-design" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/geek-art-and-design.jpg" width="468" height="178" /></p>
<p>Four calling birds sounds more annoying than cheerful during the holidays &#8230; want something <a title="Creative Steampunk Art, Fashion and Design" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/11/19/steampunk-hijacks-hi-tech-design-art-fashion/" target="_blank">noisy with all the bells and whistles</a>? There are plenty of obnoxiously <a title="Geek Gifts, Gadgets and Fixtures" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/12/15/geeky-nerdy-gadgets-fixtures/" target="_blank">clever (and geeky) options</a> to choose from &#8211; including a Pac-Man mirror, light-bulb door handle, high-tech toilet and singing toilet paper roll dispenser or even <a title="Geek Art and Graffiti" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/07/14/20-examples-of-geeky-art-and-graffiti/">works of great geeky art</a>.</p>
<h4>Day 5) Houseboats and Cargo Container Homes</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6796" title="creative-alternative-housing" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/creative-alternative-housing.jpg" width="468" height="139" /></p>
<p>Five gold rings sounds great but with the fluctuating value of the world&#8217;s commodities who knows if <a title="Another Way to Store Your Money" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/12/14/art-from-money/" target="_blank">even that is a safe investment anymore</a>. Instead while the market is good why not go ahead and buy yourself that <a title="Cargo Container Home and Office Designs" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/05/26/cargo-container-homes-and-offices/" target="_blank">funky cargo container home</a> or <a title="Creative Houseboats and Houseboat Designs" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/02/20/17-extreme-houseboats-and-houseboat-designs-luxury-marine-habitats-to-humble-floating-homes/" target="_blank">amazingly designed houseboat</a> you have always dreamed of?</p>
<h4>Day 6) Recycled Furniture and Prefab Designs</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6804" title="recycled-and-prefab-designs" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/recycled-and-prefab-designs.jpg" width="468" height="139" /></p>
<p>Six of anything is a lot &#8211; unless it is for a good cause too. Why not pull a two-for-one half-dozen this holiday season and shop for some <a title="Recycled Art, Architecture and Design" href="https://weburbanist.com/creative-recycled-art-architecture-and-design/" target="_blank">recycled furniture designs or works of art</a> (or at the steeper but more amazing end: <a title="Prefab Buildings and Flat Pack Furniture" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/11/09/prefab-architecture-flat-pack-furniture/" target="_blank">prefab designs</a> or <a title="Creative Recycled Architecture" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/11/16/adaptive-reuse-recycled-architecture-2/" target="_blank">recycled buildings</a>) that save on new materials and provides something more visually engaging and with a real material history to it.</p>
<h4>Day 7) Strange Themed Meals and Restaurants</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6806" title="creative-meals-and-theme-restaurants" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/creative-meals-and-theme-restaurants.jpg" width="468" height="139" /></p>
<p>Perhaps a seven-course <a title="Vegan, Vegetarian and Organic Food and Recipes" href="http://webecoist.com/2008/11/21/delicious-eco-friendly-meals-and-tasty-recipes-food-drinks/?utm_source=Mozilla%2F5.0+AppleWebKit%2F537.36+%28KHTML%2C+like+Gecko%3B+compatible%3B+ClaudeBot%2F1.0%3B+%2Bclaudebot%40anthropic.com%29&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed-main-tags-holidays&utm_content=unknown&utm_term=feed-link" target="_blank">earth-friendly dinner</a> is in order to top things off. You could dine at Buns and Guns, Cabbages and Condoms, Pitch Black, The Hellfire Club, the robot-staffed restaurant or any one of the many <a title="Strange and Interesting Theme Restaurants" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/08/10/15-of-the-strangest-themed-restaurants-from-buns-and-guns-to-cannabalistic-sushi/" target="_blank">strange theme restaurants</a> that cater to all kinds of tastes around the world (note: this option might go well with the previously suggested <a title="Theme Hotels of the World" href="https://weburbanist.com/themed-castle-and-art-hotels/">theme hotel stay</a>).</p>
<h4>Day 8) Geek and Artistic Cake Designs</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6807" title="geek-art-cakes" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/geek-art-cakes.jpg" width="468" height="96" /></p>
<p>Eight candles topping a scrumptious <a title="Creative, Artistic and Geek Cake Designs" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/10/15/more-awesome-geek-art-cakes-and-cake-designs/" target="_blank">artistic or geeky cake design</a> might be just the thing for desert after a long night at a radical themed restaurant. From fan of Star Trek who already has every episode to the iPhone user with every application you can find something in a <a title="Even More Geek Cakes" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/09/24/20-creative-artistic-and-geeky-cake-designs/" target="_blank">cake for every kind of nerd or geek</a>. Just don&#8217;t get <a title="Eerie Abandoned Towns and Cities" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/10/19/ghost-town-abandoned-city-examples-images/" target="_blank">lost in one of these</a> on your return trip.</p>
<h4>Day 9) Unusual Art from Ordinary Objects</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6808" title="art-from-ordinary-objects" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/art-from-ordinary-objects.jpg" width="468" height="174" /></p>
<p>Nine pieces of quality art could be hard to find, but maybe a little something from a wide selection of lesser-known but impossibly interesting <a title="Creative Artists Using Ordinary Objects" href="https://weburbanist.com/extraodinary-art-from-ordinary-objects/" target="_blank">artists who craft works from ordinary objects</a> is called for. After all, their material costs are low and the results are both <a title="Beautiful Ordinary Object Art" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/12/29/creative-sculpture-with-a-twist-3-extraordinary-approaches-to-carving-ordinary-objects/" target="_blank">aesthetically pleasing</a> and <a title="Funny Art Car Designs" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/08/03/20-of-the-worlds-most-awesome-art-cars/" target="_blank">delightfully humorous</a>. Running even lower on money this recession? <a title="Banksy Ultimate Art and Graffiti Guide" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/09/07/banksy-art-and-graffiti-the-ultimate-guide/" target="_blank">Banksy &#8220;sells&#8221; his art for free</a>.</p>
<h4>Day 10) Creative Recycled and Prefab Designs</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6810" title="transforming-futnirue" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/transforming-futnirue.jpg" width="468" height="126" /></p>
<p>Ten of anything is difficult to get let alone carry and pack so it might be time to start looking for <a title="Artistic Ways to Recycle Objects" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/04/06/3-more-kinds-of-unusual-art-from-ordinary-objects-toothpick-sculptures-to-hammer-and-nail-portraits/" target="_blank">objects that have more than one use</a> &#8211; two-for-one <a title="Creative Transforming and Alternative Furniture" href="https://weburbanist.com/unusual-creative-and-transforming-furniture/" target="_blank">collapsing, converting and transforming furniture</a> should do the trick. And if those aren&#8217;t funky enough here are <a title="Creative Modern Furniture Designs" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/09/14/90-unusually-awesome-urban-furniture-designs/" target="_blank">rooms more filled with exotic types of furniture</a>.</p>
<h4>Day 11) Offbeat Urban Camouflage Ideas</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6811" title="urban-camouflage" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/urban-camouflage.jpg" width="468" height="176" /></p>
<p>On the eleventh day of Christmas you may just find yourself wanting to <a title="Creative and Bizarre Urban Camouflage" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/12/13/the-ultimate-urban-camouflage-collection-7-strange-examples-from-coke-suits-to-camo-cars/" target="_blank">hide from the world</a> &#8211; or at least from the in-laws. For these occasions a gift to yourself might be in order from a broad selection of <a title="Urban Camouflage Technology and Accessories" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/09/15/urbex-camouflage-disguising-or-hiding-during-urban-explorations/" target="_blank">urban camouflage clothing, technology and designs</a> to an <a title="Urban Camping and the Car Tent" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/09/28/urban-camping-subversive-city-living-from-times-square-to-the-car-tent/" target="_blank">urban car tent</a> to tuck yourself away in.</p>
<h4>Day 12) Subversive Art for Good Causes</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6814" title="good-guerilla-marketing" alt="" src="https://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/good-guerilla-marketing.jpg" width="468" height="124" /></p>
<p>On day twelve it is time to stretch your mind and give something back to the world. Try giving a gift to a total stranger via an <a title="Sharing Gifts with Total Strangers" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/08/25/drop-spots-share-secret-objects-with-strangers-in-cities-around-the-world/" target="_blank">anonymous underground drop-spot system</a>, make some change by putting up a <a title="Creatively Subversive Guerrilla Marketing for Good" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/02/05/15-ingenious-humanitarian-subvertisements-creative-advertisements-that-advocate-global-causes/">subversive humanitarian subvertisement</a> or get really into the game and fight conspicuous consumption with <a title="Shopdropping and Droplifting Guide and Examples" href="https://weburbanist.com/2007/12/26/shopdropping-the-subversive-art-of-reverse-shoplifting/" target="_blank">some shopdropping</a> or a <a title="Creative Shopdropping and Droplifting Art Projects" href="https://weburbanist.com/2008/01/16/shop-drop-and-what-7-creative-and-surrealist-shopdropping-art-projects/" target="_blank">droplifting project</a>.</p>
